The Early Childhood Work Group was established in August, 2006, by parents from the Family CARE Family Council, mental health providers, daycare representatives, school representatives, and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) representatives. The purpose of the group is to identify needs and services for this underserved group of children (ages 0–5), to be an advisory group to providers, to endorse early childhood grants, and to encourage the development of appropriate resources for the birth to five children. The group has endorsed Specific Treatment Protocols, has reviewed and endorsed evidence-based practices and trainings, and continues to encourage outreach to more families and providers for this group of children in the county.
The work group continues to seek more membership by parents of young children, daycare providers, and the early childhood school providers. Please call Jane Montgomery or Liz Doyle at 815-788-4360 for more information on the group. The Work Group meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at the McHenry County Mental Health Board from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.
