Parent & Family Involvement

McHenry County is rich with opportunities for family members to get more involved with the work of our community of care.  The second Wednesday of every month, parents/caregivers and youth attend our Family and Youth Council meetings.  These meetings are designed to educate parents about our community of care, support them through their journey and teach them how to be effective champions for all children.  Parents/Caregivers and youth are encouraged to participate in their own treatment and educational planning as well as provide feedback and solutions to improving the way services are provided in McHenry County.

Our community of care employs a unique position, which is that of a Family Resource Developer.  All of the Family Resource Developers are parents who have successfully navigated the mental health, special education, juvenile justice, or child welfare systems and are now able to offer their experience and knowledge to families who are not sure where to go for help.  Family Resource Developers are staffed by Family CARE partner agencies throughout McHenry County.

For more information about how YOU can get involved, please call Beth at 815-788-4360.  Any amount of time you can give to another family is more than they have now.
